Dr Raman Subramaniam
Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist,
Fetal Medicine & Gynaecology Centre, Malaysia

Dr Raman Subramaniam is Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the Fetal Medicine and Gynaecology Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He graduated with MBBS from University of Malaya in 1974 and obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, London in 1980, Fellowship in Surgery from the International College of Surgeons in 1985 and the American College of Surgeons in 1986. Fellowships from the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecologists (London). Doctor of Medicine from University of Malay: followed in 1993. Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians Ireland, as well as the Academy of Medicine Malaysia soon followed in 1997. He was Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at both the University of Malaya and the International Medical University where he was the first Dean of the clinical school. He is currently Ad unce Professor to the International Medical University for research as well as UTAR medical school. He is also a council member for the Quest International University in Perak. He sits in the advisory Board or Fonterra for research as well as the advisory boards for Esmya and for Natera USA and is currently involved with research work on maternal fetal transfer of nutrients in pregnancy with UPM.

He has been appointed President for both the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia and the Malesian Society for Ultrasound. He was a member of the Asian Advisory Board on Women's Health (Wyeth and currently on the Fonterra advisory bound. He is also recognised as a RCOG/RCR Trainer in Obstetrics Ultrasound. His special interests are in fetal medicine, maternal nutrition and the menopause. He has appeared as an expert witness in Malaysian courts and in Malaysian Medical Council enquires several times over the last 15 years.

He has published 132 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and books, including chapters in 21 books on obstetrics and gynaecology

Dr Raman has been on the editorial boards for multiple publications, namely, the Medical Journal of Malaysia, Asia: Oceanis Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the International Journal of Feto Maternal Medicine & Journal of Paeds, Obs & Gynae. He has been a reviewer of articles for several journals. Currently, he sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Medical Ultrasound.
