HOW TO QUALIFY AS A DIETITIAN?
The dietetics course offers the pathway to a fulfilling career. The training provides the knowledge on the science of foods, health and diseases and how modifications of nutrients in the diet or feeding regime can be used for the treatment of acute, chronic or lifestyle diseases.
She/he learns to conduct nutritional assessment, nutrition diagnosis and provide nutrition intervention by prescribing and customizing the diet, with or without modifications in consistency or nutrient(s) to meet the needs of the individual, based on the clinical diagnosis.
Therefore, the dietitian is a professional, trained with the skills to provide dietary consultation in relation to the nutritional health of the individual whether in wellness or in a diseased state. With this expertise, the dietitian will also be able to utilise her knowledge and skills to contribute to the community, industry and research.
There are two ways to qualify as a dietitian in Malaysia, via the Undergraduate Course of Postgraduate Course:
